This is the race bib my little red bike wore across the finish line as we qualified for Leadville this past April. It's also the last time I thew a leg over my mountain bike. In part because I experienced a few technical issues with the drive train in that race. But in much larger part because of 1,000,000 other excuses that aren't worth mentioning.
To be fair, I have been riding. Over the years I've completed 7 triathlons. So I have no fear of riding on the road. Just don't tell any of my mountain friends that that's me out there on those skinny little tires.
Nevertheless, today I put 20 road miles under my saddle. Not bad for another 102° summer day here in Austin.
